Jesus Counsels a rich Young Ruler (With Audio Description) (1:45)

Transcript: Jesus Counsels a Rich Young Ruler
[Text: Courage. Mark: 10:17-22. A man runs up to Jesus and two of his disciples]
Man: Teacher! Teacher!
[As Jesus turns to face him, the man falls to one knee]
Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?
[Jesus smiles slightly, then crouches down to the man’s eye level]
Jesus: Why do you call me good? Nobody is good except one, God.
[Looking down the man nods. As Jesus reaches out to him, they both stand]
You know the commandments: “Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and your mother.”
Man: Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth on.
[With a slight frown Jesus looks down, then back up at the man]
Jesus: One thing is missing about you:
[The man takes a deep breathe, and looks at Jesus expectantly]
Go sell what things you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come be my follower.
[The man glances at the two disciples behind Jesus and then purses his lips. Frowning, the man slowly backs away from them]
Presenter: But he grew sad at the answer and went away grieved,
[Jesus watches him walk away]
for he had many possessions.
