Transcript: Jesus Patiently Helps His Brother
[Patience. John 7:3-5, 1Corinthians 15:3, 4, 7. Smiling Jesus concludes a conversation with a young couple. Behind him four men approach]
James: Jesus.
[He turns with a smile]
Presenter: His brothers said to him
James: Leave here and go into Judea, so that your disciples may also see the works you are doing.
[His brother James with arms crossed]
For no one does anything in secret when he seeks to be known publicly.
[Jesus smile fades]
If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.
[As James looks at him the other brothers nod in agreement]
Presenter: His brothers were, in fact, not exercising faith in him
[Avoiding Jesus’ eyes they depart. 1Corinthians 15:3, 4, 7]
Presenter: Among the first things I handed on to you was what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried
[James in his wood shop]
James: If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world
[He reflects back resting his hands on the worktable. Then picks up his chisel and mallet and continues working]
Presenter: yes, that he was raised up on the third day. After that he appeared to James.
[Catching sight of Jesus he stops; James puts down his tools. They stride toward each other. Embracing tightly, they squeeze their eyes shut, holding each other at arm’s length they grin warmly. Later they sit on stools as Jesus speaks animatedly, nodding James listens his eyes intent on Jesus]
