Transcript: Paul Preaches to the Athenians
[Tact: Acts 17:22 and 23. Paul stands in the midst of the Areopagus. He watches a group of men and women chatting. With a soft smile he steps slowly toward the crowd. He gestures to them, reaching his arms out wide]
Paul: Men of Athens,
[The men and women stop chatting and turn to look at Paul]
I see that in all things you seem to be more given to the fear of the deities than others are.
[A man tilts his head, a woman nods]
For instance, while passing along and carefully observing your objects of veneration, I found even an altar on which had been inscribed “To an Unknown God.” Therefore, what you are unknowingly worshipping, this I am declaring to you.
