Caleb wants something that doesn’t belong to him. What helps him make the right decision?
Transcript: Animated Series: Stealing is bad. Exodus 20:15
Shop PA announcement: Good afternoon, shoppers. Stop by our bakery for today’s specials. Additional customer service needed up front.
[Caleb is bored shopping with his mother. He yawns and rolls his head]
Assistant: Did you find everything OK today, ma’am?
Mom: Yes, I did, thank you.
Mom: Come on, Caleb! Time to check out!
[Caleb runs past a display of lollipops and skids to a stop. He backs up with his mouth open wide with excitement. They seem to glow like sunshine. He sneaks over to the pops, grabs an armful and spins around]
Caleb, no candy today.
Assistant: Clean-up on aisle four. Do you have our savings card?
Mom: Yes, I do, uh, it’s somewhere in here.
[Sadly, he puts back all but one pop. Longingly he stares at the pop in his hand. It seems to glow like sunshine. As he sneaks the pop into his pocket he remembers]
Dad: If you steal, will you be Jehovah’s friend?
[No]
Do you want to be Jehovah’s friend?
[Happily, he smiles, nodding yes. Caleb remembered his Bible lesson, he smiles, puts back the pop and proudly marches out]
Assistant: Thank you, ma’am. You’re all set.
Mom: Let’s go, honey!
